Two actives, not one. This is the only product in the Shirojun family registered with two quasi-drug actives: tranexamic acid for suppressing melanin formation, and allantoin, registered separately to prevent rough, irritated skin. Most listings name only the first. Allantoin is the reason this gel suits skin that is both pigmenting and reactive.
What "all-in-one" replaces. In Japan this format stands in for the toner, emulsion, cream and mask steps in a single 100 g jar. That is a real convenience and also a real limitation: one product cannot be optimised for four jobs, and dry skin in winter will usually still want a cream over it.

How to Use
- Cleanse and pat the face dry.
- Take one to two fingertip scoops from the jar.
- Warm it between the palms so it spreads without dragging.

FAQ
Does the gel really replace four products?
It replaces four steps, which is not quite the same thing. For normal and combination skin in mild weather it is genuinely enough. Very dry skin in winter will still want an occlusive cream on top, and skin with a specific concern — a retinoid, an acid — will want that product separately.
What is allantoin doing here, and why does it matter?
Allantoin is the second registered active. Japan approves it for preventing rough, irritated skin. Its presence is why this gel is a reasonable choice for skin that both pigments easily and reacts easily, and it is the one thing most listings leave out entirely.
Is the gel weaker than the lotion-and-milk pair?
The whitening active is the same and at the same registered concentration. What differs is the moisturising side: two dedicated products deliver more water and seal it better than one gel. If your concern is dryness, the pair wins; if your concern is keeping up a routine at all, the gel wins.
How long does a 100 g jar last?
At one to two fingertip scoops twice a day, roughly two to three months. It is the lowest cost per use in the Shirojun range.
Does it sting on freshly exfoliated or shaved skin?
It should not — there is no ethanol and no fragrance, and allantoin is there specifically to calm rough skin. If it does sting, that is a signal the skin barrier is compromised; stop and let it recover before continuing.
