Tsujimoto Market: Our Guarantees
Description
KOSE Suncut Tone Up UV Essence SPF50+/PA++++, 80 g
Overview
Suncut is KOSE Cosmeport's drugstore sun line, and the Tone Up Essence is its most-bought member: a high-protection sunscreen with a sheer wash of colour that evens out how your skin reads before any makeup goes on. KOSE describes it as roughly seventy per cent beauty-essence base, which in practice means it feels like a light serum rather than a sunscreen.
The colour is corrective, not covering. If you want coverage, that is a CC cream's job. See also our Japanese sunscreen range.
Key Benefits
- SPF50+/PA++++ with the Japanese water-resistance mark, so it holds through sweat and swimming rather than sliding off at the first humid hour
- Five shades produced by KOSE: mint green for redness, lavender for sallowness, rose pink for paleness, lemon yellow for dark or blue-toned areas, and snow white blue
- Sheer corrective tint that adjusts how skin reads without the pigment load of a base makeup — no heavy finish, no obvious edges
- Matte-keeping powder in the formula, which is why it works as a primer under foundation in a humid summer
- 80 g tube at drugstore pricing, large enough for face, neck and arms without rationing
- Allergy-tested and formulated to be non-comedogenic per KOSE — testing claims, not guarantees for every skin

Who Is This For?
- Anyone who wants sun protection that also makes bare skin look more even, without wearing foundation
- Redness-prone skin (mint green) or skin that looks tired and sallow by mid-afternoon (lavender)
- Summer, sport and humid travel — the water-resistance mark is the reason to pick this over a plain gel
- Makeup wearers who want a primer step that is doing real UV work at the same time
- Less suitable for deeper complexions: the shades are calibrated for light-to-medium Japanese and pan-Asian skin and can read ashy
How to Use
- Apply as the last step of your morning skincare, before any makeup.
- Use about a third of a teaspoon for the face — a thin, cosmetic-sized dab does not deliver the labelled protection.
- Spread in light strokes and let the tint settle for a minute before foundation.
- Reapply every two to three hours outdoors; over makeup, a powder or stick sunscreen is easier than reapplying this.
- Remove with your usual cleanser at the end of the day — tinted sunscreens need proper cleansing.
Frequency: Daily in the morning, all year, not only in summer.
Full Ingredients
KOSE publishes the product's positioning, protection ratings and testing claims but does not put a complete INCI list for this SKU online. The disclosed picture is: an essence-heavy base at roughly seventy per cent, a mixed UV filter system, corrective mineral pigments and a matte-keeping powder.
We are not going to reconstruct a list we cannot verify. The full list is printed on the tube, and if you need it before ordering because of an allergy, ask us and we will photograph a unit from stock.
The manufacturer publishes the actives and the headline ingredients but not the complete INCI list online. What is shown above is what is disclosed; the full list is printed on the package you receive.
Cautions
- A tinted sunscreen still needs to come off properly at night — cleanse rather than rinse.
- The corrective tint is calibrated for light-to-medium skin tones; on deeper complexions it can leave a grey or ashy cast.
- KOSE has not published a reef-safety certification for this product. If your destination restricts specific filters, check the tube against the local rule.
- Water-resistant is not waterproof: reapply after swimming or towelling.
- Patch test on the inner forearm before first use, especially if your skin is reactive.
- Discontinue use and consult a doctor if redness, itching, swelling or persistent stinging occurs.
- Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Do not apply to broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin.
- Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.

FAQ
How is this different from a CC cream?
Category and intent. A CC cream is makeup: higher pigment load, some coverage, positioned as a light foundation. This is a sunscreen with a corrective wash of colour — the priority is the SPF, and the tint is there to soften how skin reads, not to hide anything. If you want to cover a blemish, use a CC cream or concealer. If you want protection that makes you look slightly more awake, this is the right shelf.
How much do I actually need to apply?
About a third of a teaspoon for the face and another third for the neck — roughly two finger-lengths of product squeezed along your index and middle fingers. Laboratory SPF ratings are measured at 2 mg per square centimetre, and most people apply a quarter to a half of that, which is why real-world protection falls far short of the number on the tube. Reapply every two to three hours outdoors, and after swimming or towelling off.
Which shade should I pick?
Match the shade to the problem rather than to your skin tone. Mint green cancels redness — flushing, post-acne marks, irritation. Lavender lifts yellow-grey dullness and is the most flattering on tired skin. Rose pink adds warmth to pale, cool-toned skin. Lemon yellow softens blue-toned darkness such as under-eye shadow. If you cannot decide, rose pink is the most forgiving across tones.
The packaging is in Japanese — how do I know what I am using?
The carton and bottle carry Japanese-language labelling, because this is stock made for the Japanese domestic market. Where an ingredient list appears on this page, it is translated from that labelling or from the manufacturer's own published data; where the manufacturer does not publish one, the ingredients section says so rather than filling the gap. Either way, send us a photo of anything unclear on the box after delivery and we will translate it, and ask us before ordering if you need the full label list first.
Will I pay customs duty or import VAT?
That depends on your country and on the declared value of the parcel, not on us. We ship from Japan with a correct customs declaration and full tracking; any duty or import VAT your country charges is collected by your local carrier or customs office on delivery. Check your national de-minimis threshold before ordering if you want to avoid a surprise.
