Description

DHC Multivitamin 60-Day Supply — 60 Soft Capsules, 12 Vitamins with Beta-Carotene and Rutin

Overview

One small soft capsule a day carrying twelve vitamins in an olive-oil base, plus vitamin P — the rutin and orange-derived hesperidin DHC adds to work alongside the vitamin C. Sixty capsules, one a day, sixty days.

There is no retinol in this product. Its vitamin A activity comes from beta-carotene 5,400 µg, from Dunaliella algae. That distinction matters: preformed vitamin A has an intake limit in pregnancy, beta-carotene does not, and describing this as "vitamin A" points at the wrong question.

Contains soy and orange. The lecithin is soy-derived and the hesperidin is from orange; the shell is gelatin. All three are in the declaration below.

Who Is This For?

  • Adults who want one capsule a day rather than a handful of separate vitamins
  • People who prefer beta-carotene over preformed retinol as their source of vitamin A activity
  • Anyone who wants the full per-capsule figures on the page before buying
  • NOT for people with a soy or citrus allergy — the lecithin is soy-derived and the hesperidin comes from orange
  • NOT a prenatal supplement. Folic acid here is 200 µg; the amount usually advised before and in early pregnancy is 400 µg, and a prenatal product is formulated differently
  • NOT for vegetarians or vegans — the capsule shell is gelatin, and it contains beeswax

How to Use

  1. Take one capsule per day.
  2. Swallow it with water or lukewarm water.
  3. Take it with or after a meal — the fat-soluble vitamins A activity, D and E are absorbed better with food, and the capsule is olive-oil based for that reason.
  4. Keep to one capsule; the fat-soluble vitamins in it accumulate in a way the water-soluble ones do not.
  5. Keep the pack closed, away from heat and light, and out of the reach of children.

Frequency: One capsule every day. The 60-capsule pack covers 60 days at that rate.

Full Ingredients

Full declaration (Japanese-market pack): olive oil (produced in Spain) / gelatin, vitamin C, glycerin, Dunaliella carotene, enzyme-treated rutin, niacin, hesperidin (orange-derived), vitamin E, calcium pantothenate, beeswax, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, vitamin B1, lecithin (soy-derived), folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12.

Nutrition per 1 capsule (545 mg): energy 2.9 kcal, protein 0.15 g, fat 0.19 g, carbohydrate 0.14 g, salt equivalent 0.001 g — niacin 15 mg, pantothenic acid 9.2 mg, biotin 45 µg, vitamin B1 2.2 mg, vitamin B2 2.4 mg, vitamin B6 3.2 mg, vitamin B12 6.0 µg, vitamin C 100 mg, vitamin D 5.0 µg, vitamin E 10.0 mg, folic acid 200 µg, vitamin P 20 mg, beta-carotene 5,400 µg.

The vitamin A activity is beta-carotene, not retinol. The body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A as it needs it, which is why beta-carotene does not carry the pregnancy intake limit that preformed retinol does.

Allergens: soy, orange and gelatin. The lecithin is soy-derived, the hesperidin is from orange, the shell is gelatin. Beeswax is also present.

Composition and specification as declared by DHC on the Japanese-market pack.

Cautions

  • Contains soy and orange. The lecithin is soy-derived and the hesperidin comes from orange. Do not take this if you have a soy or citrus allergy.
  • Contains gelatin and beeswax, so it is not vegetarian or vegan; the animal source of the gelatin is not declared, so halal status cannot be confirmed.
  • This is not a prenatal supplement. Folic acid here is 200 µg against the 400 µg usually advised before and during early pregnancy. If you are pregnant or planning to be, ask your doctor which product is right rather than treating this as one.
  • One capsule a day. Vitamins D, E and the carotenoids are fat-soluble and accumulate; the water-soluble B and C vitamins do not, but doubling the capsule doubles both.
  • If you take another multivitamin, a separate B-complex or a vitamin C product, count them together — several nutrients here are already above the European reference intake.
  • Vitamin B2 will turn urine bright yellow. That is expected and harmless.
  • In Japan this is a nutrient function claim food. That is a self-certified category based on the nutrient content meeting a set range — it is not a drug approval and it carries no standing outside Japan.
  • Do not exceed the stated daily serving. More is not better with this formula.
  • This is a food, not a medicine. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it is not a substitute for a varied diet or for medical advice.
  • Stop taking it and speak to a doctor if you feel unwell after use.
  • Store away from direct sunlight, high temperature and humidity, and out of the reach of children.

FAQ

Does it contain vitamin A?

Not as retinol. The vitamin A activity comes from beta-carotene, 5,400 µg per capsule, from Dunaliella algae. The body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A as it needs it, which is why beta-carotene does not carry the pregnancy intake limit that preformed retinol does. Product descriptions that say "vitamin A" blur that difference, so we state the source instead.

What allergens does it contain?

Soy, orange and gelatin. The lecithin is soy-derived, the hesperidin is from orange, and the capsule shell is gelatin. Beeswax is also present. None of these are optional ingredients you can avoid within the product.

Can I take it during pregnancy?

Ask your doctor. This is not formulated as a prenatal supplement: its folic acid is 200 µg, while 400 µg is the amount usually advised before conception and in early pregnancy, and a prenatal product balances several other nutrients differently.

What is vitamin P?

It is DHC's label for the flavonoid pair in this capsule — enzyme-treated rutin and orange-derived hesperidin, 20 mg together. "Vitamin P" is an old name; these are flavonoids rather than vitamins, and DHC includes them alongside the vitamin C. We name them rather than making a claim for them.

Is one capsule enough?

One capsule is the stated serving and the figures on this page are all per capsule. Several of the nutrients are already above the European reference intake at that serving, and the fat-soluble ones accumulate, so we would not take two.
