Description

Welness Resveratrol — Japanese Trans-Resveratrol and Plant Polyphenol Supplement, 30-Day Supply

Overview

A Japanese tablet supplement built around trans-resveratrol from red grape extract, with schisandra and raspberry extracts and a broad vitamin premix. The pack is a thirty-day course at six tablets a day.

This page has been rewritten to remove claims we should not have made. The previous version said the product prevents age-related changes to the cardiovascular and nervous systems, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, controls weight, and has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating action. Those are claims for a medicine, not a food, and we withdraw them. Resveratrol health claims have been assessed in the EU and none has been authorised. What this product is, is a food supplying resveratrol and plant polyphenols. Browse our Japanese vitamins and supplements.

We also could not locate a manufacturer page for this product, so the amounts below are reported as printed on the pack rather than as verified maker data.

Key Benefits

  • ✓ Trans-resveratrol from red grape extract — the trans isomer is the form most resveratrol research uses
  • ✓ Plant polyphenols alongside it, from schisandra and raspberry extracts
  • ✓ Broad vitamin premix included — vitamins C, E, A, D, B2, B6, B12, niacin, pantothenic acid and folic acid, per the pack
  • ✓ Thirty-day pack at six tablets a day — a defined course rather than an open-ended tub
  • ✓ Made in Japan and shipped directly from Kobe
  • ✓ Claims withdrawn, not quietly reworded — six disease and physiological claims have been removed from this page and the removal is stated
  • ✓ Honest about sourcing — we could not find a maker page, and this page says so rather than implying a verification we did not do

Who Is This For?

  • Adults interested in resveratrol and polyphenols as part of a varied diet, with realistic expectations about what a food supplement does
  • People who want the vitamin premix bundled in rather than taking a separate multivitamin alongside
  • People who prefer a fixed thirty-day course to decide whether to continue
  • Not for anyone looking to prevent or treat cardiovascular disease, manage weight, or modulate immunity — the page used to imply all three and should not have
  • Not for children, pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice, or anyone on prescription medication without checking with a pharmacist first

How to Use

  1. Take six tablets a day, as stated on the pack.
  2. Splitting them across the day — two with each meal — is easier on the stomach than six at once.
  3. Take them with food. The fat-soluble vitamins in the premix (A, D, E) are absorbed better with a meal containing some fat.
  4. One pack is thirty days. Finish the course before deciding whether it suits you.
  5. Do not exceed six a day, and do not stack it with another multivitamin without adding up the vitamin A and vitamin D totals first.

Frequency: Six tablets daily, with food, for thirty days.

Full Ingredients

As printed on the pack, per 6 tablets: trans-resveratrol 10 mg, total plant polyphenols 80 mg.

Declared ingredients: red grape extract (containing resveratrol), schisandra extract, raspberry extract, crystalline cellulose, glycerin ester, vitamin C, niacin, vitamin E, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, vitamin A, folic acid, vitamin D, vitamin B12.

Two notes on the previous version of this list. It contained an entry reading simply "Vitamin B", which is not a vitamin — the B vitamins are individually named above, and nothing has been substituted for the unreadable entry. And it described resveratrol as occurring in "lingonberry, pine bark" in a sentence adjacent to the ingredient list, which invited the conclusion that those are in the bottle. They are not: the declared plant sources are red grape, schisandra and raspberry.

We could not find a manufacturer page for this product, so the figures above are what is printed on the pack we ship, not maker data we have corroborated. Read the panel on the pack you receive.

Cautions

  • This is a food, not a medicine. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take prescription medication, ask your doctor before starting any supplement
  • This product does not prevent or treat cardiovascular disease. Our previous page said it reduced cardiovascular risk; that claim has been withdrawn
  • It is not a weight-management product, and it does not modulate immune function. Both were claimed here previously and both have been removed
  • Contains vitamin A. Do not take it with another vitamin A supplement or with high-dose cod liver oil without adding the totals up, and ask a doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy
  • Resveratrol and high-dose polyphenols may interact with anticoagulants — ask your doctor if you take warfarin or a similar medicine
  • Not for children, and not in pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice
  • A supplement does not replace a varied diet; do not exceed the stated daily amount
  • Stop taking it and consult a doctor if you feel unwell after starting
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Keep out of reach of children

FAQ

Your page used to say this reduces cardiovascular risk. What changed?

We removed it, along with five other claims. Preventing or reducing the risk of disease is something only a medicine may claim, and this is a food. The EU has formally assessed health claims for resveratrol and authorised none of them. We would rather correct the page and say why than quietly reword it.

Is 10 mg of resveratrol really like twenty glasses of wine?

We do not know, which is why that sentence is gone. The resveratrol content of red wine varies by an order of magnitude depending on grape, region and winemaking, so any such multiplier depends on assumptions the old page did not show. Resveratrol occurs in grape skins and seeds; that much we can say.

Where does the resveratrol come from?

Red grape extract, per the declared ingredients, alongside schisandra and raspberry extracts. Our previous page also mentioned lingonberry and pine bark in a nearby sentence — those were describing where resveratrol occurs in nature generally, not what is in this product, and the two ideas have been separated.

Why does the page say you could not verify the amounts?

Because we could not find a manufacturer page for this product, and there is no barcode on our record. The figures are what is printed on the pack we ship. We would rather tell you that than present them as though we had checked them against a maker source.

Should I take it with food?

Yes. The premix contains the fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E, which are absorbed better with a meal containing some fat. Splitting six tablets into two with each meal is also easier on the stomach than taking all six together.
