Description

Sana Nameraka Honpo Wrinkle Gel Cream N, 100 g

Overview

Nameraka Honpo is Tokiwa's soy-milk skincare line and one of the cheapest ways into Japanese routine skincare. This jar is the all-in-one of the range: toner, emulsion, essence, cream and sleeping mask in a single step, built on fermented soy milk with a retinol-family ingredient added for the fine dryness lines the line is named after.

Two things to know before it goes in your basket: it is soy through and through, which matters if you are allergic, and ethanol sits high in the ingredient list. Neither was on our earlier version of this page. Browse Japanese moisturisers for fragrance- and alcohol-free alternatives.

Key Benefits

  • One jar covering five steps — the appeal is a routine you will actually keep on a tired evening, not a claim about performance
  • Fermented soy milk filtrate, soybean extract and soy protein as the line's signature humectants
  • Retinyl palmitate, a gentler ester of the retinol family, at a level suited to an everyday all-in-one rather than a treatment product
  • Ceramide 2 in the formula to support the barrier alongside the retinoid
  • No added fragrance, no synthetic colourant, no mineral oil per the manufacturer
  • 100 g jar at drugstore pricing, with a refill pouch produced for the same jar

Who Is This For?

  • Anyone who wants a Japanese routine but will not realistically do five steps at night
  • Normal to dry skin looking for a soft, cushiony finish rather than a matte one
  • People curious about retinoids who want to start with a mild ester in a low-commitment format
  • Not for anyone with a soy allergy — soy appears four times in the formula
  • Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding without your doctor's agreement, because of the retinoid

How to Use

  1. Cleanse, then take a pearl-sized amount from the jar with a clean spatula.
  2. Warm it between your palms and press it over the face, then down the neck.
  3. Use it as the only step after cleansing, or over a toner if your skin is very dry.
  4. In the morning, follow with sunscreen — this is not optional with a retinoid in the routine.

Frequency: Evening every day; morning use is fine but always under sunscreen.

Full Ingredients

Disclosed ingredients: water, glycerin, BG, ethanol, cyclopentasiloxane, cetyl ethylhexanoate, hydrogenated castor oil stearate, fermented soy milk filtrate, soybean extract, soy protein, retinyl palmitate, ceramide 2, and further formulation ingredients.

Two notes we owe you. Ethanol is fourth in that list, which is high, and our previous version of this page did not mention it. And the soy content is not incidental — it is the whole premise of the line — so treat the allergen warning below as the main thing on this page if soy is an issue for you.

The line's marketing calls its soy protein a plant-derived collagen. It is not collagen: collagen is an animal protein, and no plant makes it. Soy protein is a fine humectant on its own terms and does not need the borrowed name.

Ingredient list as declared by the manufacturer. Formulations are occasionally revised, so always read the list printed on the package you receive.

Cautions

  • Contains soy-derived ingredients — avoid if you have a soy allergy.
  • Contains a retinol-type ingredient: use sunscreen during the day and avoid it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor agrees.
  • Contains ethanol (alcohol), which can sting dry or reactive skin — patch test first if your barrier is compromised.
  • The approved Japanese claim for this product is making fine lines caused by dryness less noticeable. Statements about stimulating cell renewal or collagen synthesis go beyond that and we have removed them.
  • Jar packaging with a retinoid inside: close it firmly and keep it out of sunlight, as retinoids degrade with light and air.
  • Patch test on the inner forearm before first use, especially if your skin is reactive.
  • Discontinue use and consult a doctor if redness, itching, swelling or persistent stinging occurs.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • Do not apply to broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.

FAQ

Is the retinol in this strong enough to matter?

It is retinyl palmitate, an ester at the gentle end of the retinoid family, and it is in an all-in-one moisturiser rather than a treatment serum. That combination points to mild. If you have never used a retinoid, this is a reasonable, low-stakes introduction. If you are already using a prescription retinoid or a well-formulated retinal serum, this will not add anything and you would be buying it for the soy and the convenience instead.

Does it really replace five products?

It replaces five steps in the sense that it is a humectant, an emollient and an occlusive in one jar, which for many people is enough on a normal evening. What it does not replace is anything targeted: no sun protection, no exfoliation, no high-dose active. Think of it as a good default rather than a complete routine — the honest version of an all-in-one claim.

Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?

The declared ingredient list is plant- and mineral-derived, with no animal ingredients, so it fits a vegan routine. It carries no halal certification, however — Japanese domestic cosmetics are rarely certified — so if certification itself matters to you, this product does not have it.

The packaging is in Japanese — how do I know what I am using?

The carton and bottle carry Japanese-language labelling, because this is stock made for the Japanese domestic market. Where an ingredient list appears on this page, it is translated from that labelling or from the manufacturer's own published data; where the manufacturer does not publish one, the ingredients section says so rather than filling the gap. Either way, send us a photo of anything unclear on the box after delivery and we will translate it, and ask us before ordering if you need the full label list first.

Will I pay customs duty or import VAT?

That depends on your country and on the declared value of the parcel, not on us. We ship from Japan with a correct customs declaration and full tracking; any duty or import VAT your country charges is collected by your local carrier or customs office on delivery. Check your national de-minimis threshold before ordering if you want to avoid a surprise.
