Overview
Kao's Biore Cooling Body Sheets (ビオレ 冷シート 無香性) are thick, large body wipes soaked in a menthol cooling lotion. Kao states that skin temperature drops by about 3 °C — measured when you wipe an area back and forth twice, which is how the product is meant to be used, not as a bonus for wiping again. This is the unscented version of a line that also comes in floral and peach-soap.
Read the ingredient list before you buy: alcohol is the second ingredient after water, and menthol the fourth. That is what makes the cooling work, and it is also why Kao tells several groups not to use these sheets at all. The details are in Cautions below. Who Is This For?
- People who want cooling, not just drying. A powder sheet mattifies; this one is built around menthol and a wet lotion, and the sensation is the point.
- Commuters, outdoor workers, festival and gym bags in humid summer heat, where one sheet needs to cover arms, neck, back and legs.
- Anyone who avoids added fragrance — but note this is unscented, not gentle: the menthol has its own smell and the lotion is alcohol-based.
- Not for you if you react to the cold sting of menthol, are hypersensitive to alcohol, have particularly delicate skin, or are buying for an infant. Kao names all four groups and tells them not to use it.
- Not a face wipe. Kao specifically excludes the face, mucous membranes and skin just after hair removal.
How to Use
- Open the pack and take out one sheet, then press the reseal sticker back down — smooth the adhesive face first, or the rest of the pack dries out.
- Fold the sheet to roughly palm size. Kao recommends this; a large sheet used flat is harder to press against skin.
- Wipe firmly over the area: neck, arms, back, chest, legs. Not the face.
- Go back and forth twice over the same area. This is the condition under which Kao measures its 3 °C figure.
- Bin the used sheet. It does not dissolve, so it must not be flushed. Do not use it to wipe furniture, floors or appliances.
Frequency: As often as you need it through the day. One sheet is sized for a full-body wipe; the pack holds 20.

Lotion (INCI, in Kao's declared order): Water, Alcohol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Menthol, Tromethamine, PEG-11 Methyl Ether Dimethicone, Succinic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol.

Two entries decide whether this product suits you. Alcohol is second, immediately after water — Kao publishes an alcohol concentration of 24% or less. Menthol is fourth, and it is what produces the cooling. The lotion is also preserved with methylparaben and phenoxyethanol. Sodium hyaluronate is the humectant.

Cautions
- Kao says not to use this product at all if you react badly to the cold stimulus of menthol, are hypersensitive to alcohol, have particularly weak or delicate skin, or are an infant or toddler.
- Do not use on the face, on mucous membranes, on wounds, swelling or eczema, or on skin immediately after hair removal.
- Do not hold the sheet against the skin for a prolonged period. It is for wiping, not for compresses.
- Watch your skin while using it. Stop and see a dermatologist if redness, swelling, itching, stinging, loss of pigment or darkening appears, or if the same happens in direct sunlight. Continuing can make it worse.
- If the lotion gets in your eyes, rinse thoroughly at once with plenty of water.
- Sheets do not dissolve in water — never flush them.
- Do not wipe furniture, flooring or electrical appliances with these sheets.
- Store away from heat and direct sunlight, and keep the pack sealed so the lotion does not dry out. The pack is well soaked, so pressure inside a bag can squeeze liquid out.

How cold does it actually feel, and is the 3 °C figure real?
Kao measures about a 3 °C drop in skin temperature, and the measurement condition matters: it is taken when you wipe an area back and forth twice. A single quick pass will feel cooler than nothing but will not reach the published figure. The cooling comes from menthol plus the evaporation of an alcohol-based lotion, so it is sharp and short rather than gradual.
Is the fragrance-free version gentler on sensitive skin?
No — it has no added fragrance, which is a different thing. The lotion is still alcohol-based with menthol and methylparaben. Kao explicitly tells people with particularly weak skin, alcohol hypersensitivity or menthol sensitivity not to use these sheets at all. If you are choosing unscented because your skin reacts easily rather than because you dislike perfume, this is the wrong product.
Can I use it on my face?
No. Kao's instructions exclude the face and mucous membranes, along with wounds, swelling, eczema and skin just after hair removal. For the face, use a product formulated for it.
Will it dry my skin out?
The lotion contains sodium hyaluronate as a humectant, so most people find skin feels refreshed rather than tight. But the base is alcohol, so on very dry or already irritated skin repeated wiping over the same area can feel stripping. Stop if you see redness or itching.
