Description

Clé de Peau Beauté Teint Fluide Éclat Naturel 35 ml — Japanese Liquid Foundation SPF25 PA++

Overview

Clé de Peau Beauté is Shiseido's prestige house, and this is its liquid foundation in the Éclat Naturel finish — 35 ml, SPF25 PA++, with a light, fluid texture that blends rather than sits. The formula sits closer to a treatment base than to a coverage product: argan oil, yuzu seed extract, rosehip and angelica root extracts, hydrolysed silk and glycerin carry the pigment.

One thing in that list deserved a note and never had one. Among the ingredients is hydrolysed conchiolin — a protein taken from pearl-oyster shell. On a product that stays on the face all day, a shellfish allergy is worth knowing about in advance. The formula also contains methylparaben and ethanol. All three are now in the Cautions. See also our Japanese makeup range.

Key Benefits

  • ✓ Fluid, blendable texture that reads as skin rather than as a layer of product
  • ✓ SPF25 PA++ as a daily baseline under a proper sunscreen, not instead of one
  • ✓ Skincare-style ingredients carrying the pigment: argan oil, yuzu seed, rosehip and angelica root
  • ✓ Full ingredient list published here, including the mollusc-derived protein and the preservative
  • ✓ 35 ml glass bottle from Shiseido's prestige line, in the Japanese domestic presentation
  • ✓ Shipped from our base in Kobe, Japan with tracking and full protection in transit

Who Is This For?

  • People who want light-to-medium coverage that still looks like skin at close range
  • Anyone whose foundation usually goes flat or dry by the afternoon
  • Users who prefer a foundation with skincare-style ingredients in the base
  • Not suitable if: you have a shellfish or mollusc allergy — it contains hydrolysed conchiolin
  • Check first if: you avoid parabens or alcohol in facial products

How to Use

  1. Finish your skincare and let it settle for a minute before makeup goes on.
  2. Shake the bottle well — the pigment settles in a fluid this thin.
  3. Dispense one pump onto the back of the hand, a sponge or a brush.
  4. Blend outward from the centre of the face, where coverage is usually most wanted.
  5. Layer a second thin pass only where you need it rather than adding more everywhere.

Frequency: Daily, as the base step of your makeup

Cautions

  • Contains hydrolysed conchiolin, a protein taken from pearl-oyster shell — relevant if you have a shellfish allergy or avoid animal-derived ingredients.
  • The formula includes a paraben preservative — worth knowing if you prefer paraben-free skincare.
  • Contains ethanol and hydrolysed silk — relevant if you avoid alcohol or animal-derived ingredients in facial products.
  • SPF25 PA++ is a baseline, not sun protection on its own: wear a dedicated sunscreen underneath if you are out in the sun.
  • The manufacturer states the product is non-comedogenic and allergy-tested. Those are laboratory tests and do not rule out an individual reaction — patch test if your skin is reactive.

FAQ

How do I choose the right shade?

Japanese foundation shades run on the ochre scale rather than the light/medium/deep naming most Western brands use, and the numbering does not map across brands. Two things help. First, match to the skin at your jawline in daylight, not to the back of your hand, which is usually a shade or two off. Second, if you already wear a shade in another Japanese brand, tell us which one when you order and we will tell you what the equivalent looks like on the Japanese chart — we have the boxes in front of us in Kobe.

Do I still need sunscreen while using this?

Yes, and it is not a detail you can skip. Ultraviolet light is what drives melanin production in the first place, so a brightening routine without daily sun protection is a bucket with a hole in it. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning you will see daylight, including through windows and on overcast days.

Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?

This foundation contains hydrolysed conchiolin, a protein from pearl-oyster shell, and hydrolysed silk. The product carries no halal certification — Japanese domestic cosmetics are rarely certified — so if certification itself matters to you, this product does not have it.

Is this an authentic Japanese product?

Yes. We buy through Japanese distribution channels and ship from our base in Kobe, Japan. We do not sell grey-market or parallel-import stock, and the packaging you receive is the Japanese domestic packaging, with Japanese-language labelling.

Will I pay customs duty or import VAT?

That depends on your country and on the declared value of the parcel, not on us. We ship from Japan with a correct customs declaration and full tracking; any duty or import VAT your country charges is collected by your local carrier or customs office on delivery. Check your national de-minimis threshold before ordering if you want to avoid a surprise.
