Description

Meishoku DET Clear Bright & Peel Peeling Gel, 180 g

Overview

DET Clear Bright & Peel is Meishoku's rinse-off peeling gel and one of the steadier sellers in Japanese drugstores. You massage it over dry skin, it warms slightly as you work, and it comes off with lukewarm water taking surface build-up with it. The exfoliation comes from fruit-derived AHA — malic and tartaric acid — and from black willow bark, a BHA source. Orange scent. See also our Japanese cleansers.

Key Benefits

  • ✓ Fruit-derived AHA (malic and tartaric acid) to loosen surface build-up
  • ✓ Black willow bark extract as a BHA source that works into the pores
  • ✓ Gentle warming sensation as you massage, which makes the step feel less abrasive
  • ✓ Rinse-off format — nothing acidic stays on the skin
  • ✓ Natural orange scent from citrus peel oil
  • ✓ Generous 180 g tube at drugstore pricing

Who Is This For?

  • Skin that looks rough or feels bumpy to the touch
  • Anyone whose makeup has started to cling unevenly
  • People who want exfoliation without a leave-on acid
  • Not for skin that is broken, sunburned or actively inflamed

How to Use

  1. Start with dry skin and dry hands — water stops the gel from working
  2. Squeeze a small amount out and spread it thinly over the face
  3. Massage in light circles, concentrating on areas where pores look congested
  4. Avoid the eye and lip area entirely
  5. Stop as soon as your fingertips glide, then rinse off with lukewarm water

Frequency: Once or twice a week, before your usual cleanse

Full Ingredients

Glycerin, DPG, cellulose, BG, water, orange peel oil, orange fruit extract, lemon fruit extract, malic acid, tartaric acid and black willow bark extract.

Ingredient list as declared by the manufacturer. Formulations are occasionally revised, so always read the list printed on the package you receive.

Cautions

  • Patch test on the inner forearm before first use, especially if your skin is reactive.
  • Discontinue use and consult a doctor if redness, itching, swelling or persistent stinging occurs.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • Do not apply to broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
  • Exfoliating acids can make skin more sensitive to sunlight — use a daily sunscreen while you are using this product.
  • Contains citrus peel oil and citrus extracts. Citrus oils are a known contact allergen and some are associated with photosensitivity — rinse thoroughly and use a sunscreen the following day.
  • Once or twice a week is the intended frequency. Daily use of an acid exfoliant is the most common way people damage their own barrier.
  • Massage until your fingers glide, then stop. Working longer does not exfoliate more; it just adds friction.

FAQ

Are those little rolls my dead skin coming off?

Mostly no, and it is worth being clear about it. The crumbs that form under your fingers are largely the gel itself — cellulose and polymers rolling up as you massage — mixed with surface debris and sebum. That is how this type of Japanese peeling gel is designed to work. The actual exfoliation comes from the acids and the enzyme, not from the amount of crumbs you can see.

Why does it feel warm?

The gel base generates a mild warming sensation as you massage. It is a comfort feature that makes the massage step feel gentler, and that is all it is. Warmth does not open pores — pores have no muscle and do not open or close — and it is not a sign that the product is working harder.

Can I use it on damp skin in the shower?

Not this one. It is designed for dry skin and dry hands; water dilutes the gel and it stops balling up and lifting debris. Use it before you wash your face rather than during.

Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?

The declared ingredient list is plant- and mineral-derived, with no animal ingredients, so it fits a vegan routine. It carries no halal certification, however — Japanese domestic cosmetics are rarely certified — so if certification itself matters to you, this product does not have it.

Will I pay customs duty or import VAT?

That depends on your country and on the declared value of the parcel, not on us. We ship from Japan with a correct customs declaration and full tracking; any duty or import VAT your country charges is collected by your local carrier or customs office on delivery. Check your national de-minimis threshold before ordering if you want to avoid a surprise.
