Description
DHC Nattokinase 3100FU — 30 soft capsules, one a day
Overview
DHC Nattokinase 3100FU is a once-a-day soft capsule built around nattokinase, an enzyme derived from fermented soybeans (natto), at 3,100 FU per capsule. It also contains quercetin from onion-skin extract at 10 mg, and DHA and EPA from refined fish oil at 5 mg and 0.5 mg. The capsule has no natto smell, which is the practical reason people take natto's enzyme this way rather than eating natto.
Read the anticoagulant caution before you order. Nattokinase is a fibrinolytic enzyme and may interact with warfarin and other blood-thinning medicines. If you take one, this is a conversation to have with your doctor first, not a supplement to try and see.
In Japan this is an ordinary food (一般食品): it is not a Food with Function Claims (機能性表示食品) and not a Food with Nutrient Function Claims (栄養機能食品), so no physiological effect has been notified to or reviewed by the Consumer Affairs Agency and none may be claimed. That matters more here than on most cards, because the ingredients in this one sound medical. The description below gives amounts and stops.

Who Is This For?
- Someone who wants natto's enzyme without natto. That is the honest description of what this product is for.
- Someone who will not keep up a four-capsule routine. This is one capsule, once a day.
- Someone who has read the anticoagulant caution and does not take a blood thinner.
- Not for: anyone taking warfarin or any other anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicine without their doctor's agreement first. Not for anyone with a bleeding disorder, or due to have surgery or dental work. Not for anyone allergic to soy, fish or milk — all three are declared. Not for vegans or vegetarians, because of the fish oil and the milk protein. Not for children. And not for anyone who avoids titanium dioxide.
How to Use
- Take one capsule a day with water.
- Any time of day works; the maker does not specify one.
- Taking it at the same time each day is the easiest way not to forget it.
- Do not take more than one capsule in a day.
- Close the pack after use and keep it out of sunlight, heat and damp.
Frequency: Once a day, one capsule
Full Ingredients
Per capsule (309 mg): Bacillus natto cultured extract 155 mg (nattokinase 3,100 FU), onion outer-skin extract 10 mg (quercetin 5%), DHA 5 mg, EPA 0.5 mg.
Other ingredients: refined fish oil, sucrose, starch, potassium caseinate (milk), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, cellulose, calcium stearate, silicon dioxide, caramel colouring, titanium dioxide, gellan gum.
Contains: soy, fish, milk.
On the DHA and EPA figures: 5 mg and 0.5 mg are small. A fish-oil capsule sold for its omega-3 content typically carries a few hundred milligrams of DHA. These amounts are part of this formula; they are not a reason to stop taking a fish oil if you take one.
Cautions
- This is a food, not a medicine. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and nothing here is medical advice.
- Do not exceed the daily amount the maker states on the pack.
- If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, ask your doctor before taking this.
- If you take prescription medicine or are under treatment for anything, ask your doctor or pharmacist before adding this.
- Stop taking it and speak to a doctor if anything about how you feel changes after you start.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store away from direct sunlight, heat and damp, and close the pack after use.
- Anticoagulants and antiplatelet medicines. Nattokinase is a fibrinolytic enzyme and is reported to interact with warfarin and other blood thinners. Do not take this alongside one without your doctor's agreement. The same applies if you have a bleeding disorder, or surgery or dental work coming up — tell whoever is treating you that you are taking it.
- Contains titanium dioxide (E171) as a colour. The EU withdrew its authorisation as a food additive by Commission Regulation (EU) 2022/63, prohibited from 7 February 2022, after EFSA's 2021 opinion could not rule out genotoxicity. It remains permitted in Japan and in medicines. If you avoid it, this is not the product for you.
- Contains soy, fish and milk. The milk comes from potassium caseinate, which is easy to miss in an ingredient list; the fish from refined fish oil; the soy from the natto the enzyme is cultured on.

FAQ
I take warfarin. Can I take this?
Not without your doctor's agreement. Nattokinase is a fibrinolytic enzyme and is reported to interact with warfarin and other anticoagulants. This is the most important sentence on the page, and it is not a formality we print on everything — most of our supplements do not carry it.
Does it smell of natto?
No. The enzyme is encapsulated, and the capsule is the reason to buy this rather than a pack of natto. That much of the previous description was accurate and it stays.
Is this enough DHA and EPA to count as an omega-3 supplement?
No. There is 5 mg of DHA and 0.5 mg of EPA in a capsule. A fish oil sold for its omega-3 content usually carries a few hundred milligrams of DHA. If omega-3 is what you want, buy a fish oil; this is not one.
What does nattokinase actually do?
We are not permitted to tell you. This is an ordinary food in Japan, so no physiological function may be claimed for it, and the previous version of this page claimed several. What we can give you is the amount — 3,100 FU per capsule, from 155 mg of Bacillus natto cultured extract — and the warning about blood thinners, which exists precisely because the enzyme is not inert.
How is it shipped, and how long does it take?
It leaves our warehouse in Kobe, Japan within 2–6 business days with a tracking number. Delivery after that depends on your destination — commonly 7–21 days — and any import duty or tax is set by your own country, not by us.
