Cautions

- Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Do not apply to broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin.
- Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- The previous description called the surfactant system amino-acid based. In the declared list it is mixed: lauryl glucoside, a soap-type lauric acid base, PEG-80 sorbitan laurate, cocamide DEA and one genuine amino-acid surfactant, sodium lauroyl methylalaninate. That is a mild system, but the amino-acid label was too flattering and we have corrected it.
- Contains cocamide DEA. DEA-class ingredients are permitted in Japan and used widely, but their residual diethanolamine content is restricted in the EU and some shoppers avoid them on principle. Disclosed here because the previous description did not mention it.
- Avoid hot water. Heat strips more lipid than any surfactant in this list and is the usual reason a mild cleanser still leaves skin tight.
- Rohto states the product has been patch-tested with the cooperation of people with sensitive skin. That is a manufacturer test on a panel, not a guarantee that no one will react — do your own patch test first.

FAQ
Does this remove makeup?
Not reliably, and it is not sold as doing so. Sunscreen and long-wear base makeup need an oil or balm cleanser first; this foam is the second step after that, or the only step on a bare face. Trying to remove a full face of makeup with a water-based foam usually means scrubbing, which is worse for the skin than the extra product would have been.
Why does the foam come out of the pump already whipped?
The pump head aerates the liquid as it passes through a mesh. The practical benefit is that you cannot under-lather: the foam that reaches your hand is already the right consistency, so you are not rubbing a concentrated cleanser directly onto skin while working up a lather.
What is the correct order for the Gokujyun products?
Foaming face wash first, then the lotion, then the emulsion, then the cream — thinnest to richest. You do not need all four: lotion plus cream is a complete routine, and the Perfect Gel replaces the whole middle of it on its own. Browse the rest of the line under toners and moisturisers.
Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?
The portion of the ingredient list Rohto publishes is plant-derived and synthetic, with no animal ingredients in it. Because the tail of the list is only printed on the package, we will not state flatly that the finished product is vegan — read the full list on the bottle if that is decisive for you. The product carries no halal certification — Japanese domestic cosmetics are rarely certified — so if certification itself matters to you, this product does not have it.
