How to Use

Contains titanium dioxide (E171) as part of the colorant. Titanium dioxide has not been authorised as a food additive in the European Union since 2022; it remains permitted in Japan, where this product is made and sold. We state this plainly because these packs are shipped into the EU.

Cautions
- Iron is one of the leading causes of fatal poisoning in small children. Keep this pack where a child cannot reach it, and seek emergency medical help immediately if a child swallows any.
- Do not take iron unless you know you need it. Persistent tiredness has many causes and iron is only one of them; a blood test settles the question. Taking iron you do not need is not neutral.
- Not for people with haemochromatosis, thalassaemia, sideroblastic anaemia or any other condition of iron overload, and not for anyone receiving repeated blood transfusions.
- Iron binds several medicines and blocks their absorption — tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics, levothyroxine, bisphosphonates, methyldopa and levodopa. Separate them by at least two hours and ask your pharmacist.
- Iron commonly causes constipation, nausea, dark stools and stomach discomfort. Dark stools are expected; blood in the stool is not, and needs a doctor.
- Contains gelatin. The capsule shell is gelatin, so this is not a vegetarian or vegan product. DHC does not declare the animal source of the gelatin on the pack, so we cannot confirm halal status either way.

No. Heme iron is the iron bound inside animal haemoglobin, so it is an animal-derived ingredient, and the capsule shell is gelatin. If you follow a plant-based diet you need a non-heme iron preparation instead — heme iron cannot be made to fit one.
Is it halal?
We cannot confirm that. DHC declares heme iron and gelatin but does not name the animal source of either on the pack, and we do not guess about this.
Can I take it just because I feel tired?
