Overview
A heel balm shaped like a deodorant stick, from Kobayashi Pharmaceutical — the company behind most of the small, single-purpose products in a Japanese bathroom. You twist up three millimetres, run it over the heel, and the hands stay clean. That sounds like a detail until you have tried to apply an ointment to your own heel at bedtime.
The formula is twelve ingredients and no water: petrolatum, castor oil, squalane, olive fruit oil, rice bran oil, and waxes to hold the shape. There is no urea, no acid and no active — this is not a keratolytic that dissolves hard skin. It is an occlusive that stops the heel losing water overnight, which is what makes a heel crack in the first place.

Who Is This For?
- Heels that go rough and split in winter, or after a summer in sandals.
- Anyone who has bought a heel cream and stopped using it because of the greasy hands and the sock afterwards. A stick removes both objections.
- People who cannot comfortably reach their own feet — the stick needs no bending to rub in.
- Skin that stings from urea creams: there is no urea, no lactic acid and no salicylic acid in this one.
- Not for a heel that is bleeding, infected or numb. Cracked skin that does not heal, or any foot problem with diabetes in the picture, is a doctor's matter and not a cosmetic's.
How to Use
- Use it on clean, dry feet — after a bath is ideal, once the skin is dry again.
- Take the cap off and turn the base until about three millimetres of the stick shows.
- Run it over the heel and any rough edges in thin, even passes. Do not carve a thick layer: it will end up on the sheet, not on the foot.
- Put a sock on. It keeps the balm where you put it and stops the floor getting slippery.
- Turn the base back down and replace the cap so the stick does not pick up lint.
Frequency: Kobayashi suggests applying it every day after a bath and keeping it up. On a heel that has already cracked, nightly for two weeks is the point at which most people see a change.

petrolatum, castor oil, squalane, olive fruit oil, ceresin, beeswax, cetanol, microcrystalline wax, behenic acid, rice bran oil, BHT, tocopheryl acetate.
Twelve entries, four of them waxes that exist to keep the stick a stick. Beeswax means this is not vegan. BHT is an antioxidant that stops the oils going rancid, and tocopheryl acetate is vitamin E doing the same job.
One flag worth raising: several Japanese retailer listings for this product advertise aloe extract. It is not in Kobayashi's declaration above. Either those listings describe a different or older formulation, or they are wrong — so we do not claim aloe here. The declaration on the pack in your hand is the one that counts.
Cautions
- For external use only. Avoid the eye area; if the product gets into the eyes, rinse at once with water or lukewarm water.
- Do not use on skin with wounds, swelling, eczema, sunburn or any other abnormality.
- Stop using it and speak to a dermatologist if redness, swelling, itching, stinging or any other reaction appears during use or afterwards. Continuing can make it worse.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Close the pack after use and store away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
- Contains beeswax. Not suitable for vegans, and not for anyone who reacts to bee products.
- For feet. It is not formulated for the face, and there is no reason to use it there.
- Do not use on broken, bleeding or infected skin. A crack that will not close, or any foot problem where diabetes or circulation is involved, needs a doctor rather than a balm.
- It makes floors slippery. Put a sock on straight after applying it.
- Turn the stick back down before capping it, or the exposed balm collects lint in a bathroom drawer.

FAQ
Will it remove the hard skin on my heels?
No. There is no urea, no acid and nothing that dissolves keratin in this formula. What it does is stop the heel drying out, and a heel that is not drying out stops splitting and gradually softens. If you want hard skin removed, that is a file or a pumice stone, and this is what you use afterwards so it does not come straight back.
Why a stick instead of a cream?
Because most heel creams are abandoned rather than used up. The stick applies without greasy hands, without bending down to rub anything in, and without the tub sitting untouched. It is a formulation decision about compliance, which is usually the real problem with heel care.
Is there aloe in it?
Several Japanese retailer listings say so; Kobayashi's own ingredient declaration does not. We have written the page from the declaration, so this card does not claim aloe. If the pack you receive names it, that would be a different or newer formulation and we would like to know.
Can I use it on hands, elbows or knees?
Nothing in the formula makes that a problem — it is petrolatum and plant oils. It is designed for the thickest skin on the body, so on thinner skin a little goes a long way. It is not for the face.
Is it authentic, and how long does delivery take?
