Cautions
- Patch test on the inner forearm before first use, especially if your skin is reactive.
- Discontinue use and consult a doctor if redness, itching, swelling or persistent stinging occurs.
- Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Do not apply to broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin.
- Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- No sunscreen blocks all UV, and every sunscreen wears off. Reapply every two to three hours outdoors, and after swimming, heavy sweating or towelling.
- Most people apply far less sunscreen than the amount the SPF rating is measured with. For the face, roughly two finger-lengths of product is the usual guidance — a thin smear gives you a fraction of the labelled protection.
- Contains animal-derived ingredients — not suitable for vegans.
- Contains zinc oxide, a mineral filter, which can leave a slight white cast on deeper skin tones.
- Waterproof formulas need proper removal. Use an oil or balm cleanser in the evening rather than relying on a foaming wash alone.

FAQ
What does PA++++ actually mean?
PA is the Japanese rating for UVA protection, and four plus signs is the highest grade in the system. SPF, by contrast, measures UVB — the burning wavelengths. You want both: UVB is what reddens skin, UVA is the one associated with long-term changes in how skin looks. A high SPF with a low PA rating leaves half the job undone.
What is a five-filter system and why does it matter?
Different UV filters cover different parts of the spectrum and degrade at different rates. Combining zinc oxide with photostable organic filters such as Tinosorb S gives broader coverage than any single filter, and means the protection holds up better over a few hours of sun rather than falling off sharply.
Can I really wear makeup over it?
Yes — it is formulated as a base as well as a sunscreen. Give it a minute to settle before applying foundation or powder. What you should not do is skimp on the sunscreen layer to make the makeup sit better; a thin layer costs you most of the labelled protection.
Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?
No to both. The formula contains placenta extract, fermented placenta filtrate, water-soluble collagen and hydrolysed elastin. La Mente's placenta is porcine, which is specifically not halal. The product carries no halal certification — Japanese domestic cosmetics are rarely certified — so if certification itself matters to you, this product does not have it.
Will I pay customs duty or import VAT?
That depends on your country and on the declared value of the parcel, not on us. We ship from Japan with a correct customs declaration and full tracking; any duty or import VAT your country charges is collected by your local carrier or customs office on delivery.
