Overview
La Sana's seaweed hair essence has been made by Yamasaki in Hiroshima since 1998 and is one of the longest-running leave-in treatments in Japan. The unusual thing about it is what is missing: no water is added at any point in manufacture, so there is no preservative, no fragrance and no colourant either.
What is in it is a silicone base carrying two seaweed extracts (Laminaria ochroleuca and Alaria esculenta), olive fruit oil, rice germ oil, tocopherol and γ-docosalactone — the rapeseed-derived repair ingredient that reacts to hairdryer heat.

How to Use
- Wash the hair and press out the excess water with a towel. Do not dry it fully — the essence goes on damp hair.
- Dispense the amount for your hair length: 3–5 pumps for short hair, 5–7 for semi-long, 7–10 for long.
- Spread it between the palms, apply to the ends first, then work it through the rest.
- Dry with a hairdryer from the roots down; the repair ingredient responds to the heat.
- Finish with the cool setting for shine.
Frequency: After every wash. Too little is the usual reason it seems not to work; too much is the usual reason hair feels weighed down.

Cautions
