Platinum is the top of the Ban roll-on range, and it is worth being precise about why — our previous page was not. It does not have stronger actives than Ban Premium. Both carry the same two: aluminium chlorohydrate against perspiration, IPMP against the bacteria that make sweat smell, under the same quasi-drug approval for perspiration, sweat odour and axillary odour.
What Platinum adds is adhesion. Anhydrous sodium sulfate and PEG-1000 form what Lion calls the strongest adhesion in the Ban line, built to survive not just humidity but rubbing — a shirt sleeve, an arm moving all day, a bag strap. If your complaint about antiperspirant is that it is gone by mid-afternoon and you cannot see why, friction is usually the answer, and this is the version that addresses it.

How to Use
- Take the cap off and turn the bottle upside down once so the ball loads.
- Roll a thin, even layer onto clean, dry underarm skin — a wet or freshly showered underarm dilutes it.
- Wait until it has dried before putting a shirt on. This is the step people skip and then blame the product for marks.
- If crystals have formed and the ball will not turn, free it with a finger, then use as normal. Close the cap firmly afterwards.

Full Ingredients
Active ingredients (the two the quasi-drug approval rests on):
- Aluminium chlorohydrate (クロルヒドロキシアルミニウム) — the antiperspirant salt. It caps the sweat duct at the surface so less sweat reaches the skin.
- Isopropyl methylphenol, IPMP (イソプロピルメチルフェノール) — a bactericide. Sweat itself is close to odourless; the smell comes from skin bacteria breaking it down, and this is the part that addresses them.
This product is a Japanese quasi-drug (医薬部外品): a regulated tier between a cosmetic and a medicine. It carries a declared active ingredient and an officially approved purpose, and it may not claim anything beyond that purpose. Where this page states what the product does, it states the approved purpose and nothing wider.
Other declared ingredients: hydrophobically modified hydroxypropyl methylcellulose; vinyl methyl ether / ethyl maleate copolymer solution; anhydrous sodium sulfate and PEG-1000 — these two are the high-adhesion system that separates Platinum from Premium; hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin; ethanol; edetate salt; menthol; fragrance.

FAQ
Will it stop the sweat, or only the smell?
Both, and by two different ingredients. The aluminium chlorohydrate is what reduces the sweat that reaches the skin; the IPMP is what deals with the bacteria that turn sweat into odour. A product with only the second is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant, and it will not keep a shirt dry.
Our old page said this was the longest-lasting deodorant Lion makes. Was that right?
Not quite, and it has been corrected. Lion's claim for Platinum is the strongest adhesion in the Ban line — the film resists rubbing and humidity better than the rest of the range. That is a claim about staying on the skin, not about a longer duration of action, and the actives are the same as in Premium. The honest version is more useful anyway: buy Platinum for friction, not for a bigger dose.
Can I put it on straight after a shower or after shaving?
After a shower, dry the skin first — wet skin dilutes the layer and it will not set. After shaving, wait. Lion asks specifically that it not be used immediately after hair removal, because a freshly shaved underarm has small breaks in it that sting and can react.
Is there a problem shipping it by air?
It needs declaring. Lion states on its own product page that this item is dangerous goods under the Japanese Civil Aeronautics Act, because of the alcohol in the formula, and asks the sender to tell the carrier before handing it over. We do that. A few destinations and a few courier services still decline it — if you are not sure about yours, write to us before you order rather than after.
Is this the same product sold in Japanese drugstores?
