ORBIS Wrinkle Bright UV Protector does two regulated jobs in one daily step. It is a Japanese quasi-drug (医薬部外品) whose approved active is niacinamide, and it carries SPF50+ / PA++++ on top of that.
Being a quasi-drug means the wording of what it may claim is fixed, so here it is unedited. For wrinkles: niacinamide promotes collagen production in the dermis and improves wrinkles. For tone: 美白 in the Japanese sense — suppresses melanin production and prevents spots and freckles. That is prevention of future marks, not the removal of ones you already have. ORBIS's own footnote says exactly this, and a lot of English listings quietly upgrade it. We have not.

- Your skin is normal to dry and finds most SPF50 drying. This is a moisturising cream base, not the alcohol-forward gel most Japanese SPF50 sits in.

The Rose shade (ローズ) shares this base and adds cyclopentasiloxane, an acrylate silicone ester, sorbitan sesquiisostearate, a second vitamin E and the three iron oxides that give it its tint.

In Japan this product is a quasi-drug (医薬部外品) — a third category between a cosmetic and a medicine. It means the Ministry of Health has approved a named active ingredient for a specific, narrowly worded effect. It is still not a medicine and does not treat a medical condition.
Cautions
- For external use only. Avoid the eye area; if the product gets into the eyes, rinse at once with water or lukewarm water.
- Do not use on skin with wounds, swelling, eczema, sunburn or any other abnormality.
- Patch test before the first full-face use: apply a little to the inner forearm and leave it 24 hours.
- Stop using it and speak to a dermatologist if redness, swelling, itching, stinging or any other reaction appears during use or afterwards. Continuing can make it worse.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Close the pack after use and store away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
- SPF and PA are measured at 2 mg per square centimetre. Most people apply a third of that, which is why a labelled SPF50 behaves like a much lower number in daily use. Use a full amount and reapply — that matters more than the number on the tube.
- Contains organic UV filters as well as titanium dioxide. If you are avoiding ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate for reef reasons or for your own, this formula contains it.

Can a sunscreen really improve wrinkles?
In Japan this one is approved to say so, which is a narrower statement than it sounds. Niacinamide is an approved quasi-drug active for wrinkle improvement, and ORBIS's registered mechanism is that it promotes collagen production in the dermis. That approval covers a specific effect at a specific concentration. It does not make the product a treatment, and the UV protection is still the part doing the most work against future lines.
Does it fade dark spots I already have?
No, and we want to be clear about it. The Japanese 美白 claim ORBIS holds is 『メラニンの生成を抑え、シミ・ソバカスを防ぐ』 — suppresses melanin production and prevents spots and freckles. Prevention. English listings often render this as 'brightening', which reads as fading. If your goal is existing marks, this is the wrong tool.
Does it cut blue light or infrared?
We are not claiming either. An earlier version of this page said it cut around 40% of blue light and added near-infrared protection. We could not find those figures anywhere in ORBIS's own material for the current formula, so we removed them rather than repeat an unsourced number. What ORBIS does publish is its Instant Auto-Defense Technology: the film thickens on contact with UV.
Which shade will I get?
ORBIS sells this in a natural shade and a rose shade; the rose one carries iron oxides and gives a soft tint. Our listing does not distinguish them. Message us before ordering if the shade matters and we will tell you what is on the shelf.
Is this the same as the older Wrinkle Bright UV Protector?
