LA MENTE Pure 4 puts four animal-derived actives in one salon-size bottle: placenta extract, umbilical cord extract (サイタイエキス), succinoyl atelocollagen and hydrolysed elastin. That is where the name comes from — four actives, nothing decorative around them.
The full declaration is eleven items, and the second one is ethanol. An earlier version of this page stated the product was free from alcohol. It is not, and on a page selling a professional-strength serum to people with reactive skin that is not a detail we are willing to leave wrong.

Who Is This For?
- You already use LA MENTE and want the four-active bottle. This is the one the line is named around.
- You are a therapist buying for a treatment room. 業務用 is the professional format and this is how it is packaged.
- You want collagen and elastin together with placenta rather than separately. The argument for Pure 4 over four single-active bottles is convenience and price per ml, not that the combination does something the separates do not.
- Not for you if alcohol stings. Ethanol is the second ingredient. This is the one thing about the product that a reactive-skinned customer needs to know first.
- Not for you if you avoid animal-derived ingredients — vegan, halal or kosher. Two of the four actives are animal-derived and there is no certification.
- Not a starter product. 100 ml of a professional-strength essence is a large commitment for a first placenta purchase.
How to Use
- Cleanse, then prepare the skin with your toner.
- Pour out about a 100-yen-coin amount — this is the maker's own measure, not drops.
- Warm it briefly between the palms.
- Press it into the face and neck with the palms, layering a little more on the areas you are most concerned about.
- Follow with your usual cream or emulsion.
Frequency: Morning and evening.

Eleven items. The four actives are third through sixth; the rest is water, alcohol, three buffer salts, citric acid and one preservative.
Ethanol is in this product. The previous version of this page said in its FAQ that Pure 4 is "free from alcohol and artificial fragrance". Half of that is right — there is no fragrance. The alcohol half is not, and it is the half that matters if your skin stings.
Three things the previous page named that are not in the product: ceramides, marine collagen, and EGF-like peptides. The collagen here is succinoyl atelocollagen, and there is no peptide of any kind on the declaration.
In Japan this product is registered as a cosmetic (化粧品), not as a quasi-drug. That matters for what it may claim: a cosmetic is not permitted to state a recognised active ingredient or an approved medicinal effect, and neither do we.
Cautions
- For external use only. Avoid the eye area; if the product gets into the eyes, rinse at once with water or lukewarm water.
- Do not use on skin with wounds, swelling, eczema, sunburn or any other abnormality.
- Patch test before the first full-face use: apply a little to the inner forearm and leave it 24 hours.
- Stop using it and speak to a dermatologist if redness, swelling, itching, stinging or any other reaction appears during use or afterwards. Continuing can make it worse.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Close the pack after use and store away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
- Contains ethanol as the second ingredient. If alcohol in skincare stings, dries you out or flushes you, this will do it. Patch test matters more here than on most of what we sell.
- Animal-derived: the placenta in this product is equine (horse). It is not halal-certified and it is not suitable for vegans. Whether horse-derived material is acceptable differs between schools of Islamic jurisprudence, and the raw material is not slaughtered to halal standard in any case. If this matters to you, please treat the product as unsuitable rather than assume.
- Umbilical cord extract is also animal-derived, so the note above applies to it as well.
- This is a cosmetic. It does not stimulate collagen production, it does not contain growth factors, and it is not what a clinic administers. Anything on this page that reads otherwise is a mistake we want to know about.

FAQ
Does Pure 4 contain alcohol?
Yes. Ethanol is the second ingredient on the declaration. The previous version of this page said the opposite, in a FAQ answer, and we are correcting it here rather than quietly. If alcohol in skincare is a problem for you, this is not the bottle to buy — the fermented placenta essence in the same brand has no alcohol in it at all.
What are the four in Pure 4?
Umbilical cord extract, placenta extract, succinoyl atelocollagen and hydrolysed elastin — in that order on the declaration. A previous version of this page described the four as placenta, marine collagen, elastin and ceramides. There are no ceramides in the product and the collagen is not marine.
Does it contain EGF or growth factors?
No. There is no peptide of any kind on the declaration, and nothing described as a growth factor. An earlier FAQ on this page said the placenta "works synergistically with EGF-like peptides". It does not, because there are none.
What is umbilical cord extract, and where does it come from?
サイタイエキス is a standard ingredient in Japanese professional skincare, declared as a moisturising component. Like the placenta in the same bottle it is animal-derived, from the same LA MENTE supply line. It is not human-derived. If you avoid animal ingredients on any grounds, this product is not suitable.
How much do I use?
The maker's measure is about a 100-yen coin's worth, warmed between the palms and pressed in — not two or three drops. An earlier version of this page gave a dropper dose, which would be a fraction of what the maker intends and would make a 100 ml bottle last an implausibly long time.
