Description
Nichinichi Protesan B, 31 sachets
Overview
Protesan B is Nichinichi Pharmaceutical's concentrated FK-23 powder in a one-gram daily sachet. FK-23 is Enterococcus faecalis of human origin, heat-treated and concentrated by Nichinichi's own process — which means it is not a live probiotic but a postbiotic: the bacteria are killed, and what you are taking is their cell material.
One sachet carries the equivalent of 300 billion FK-23. The previous version of this page said 300 billion per pack. That understated the product by a factor of thirty-one, which is an unusual direction for a shop's own copy to be wrong in.

Who Is This For?
- People who want a daily lactic acid bacteria food and would rather not manage a refrigerated live product
- Travellers — the sachets are shelf-stable and pack flat
- Anyone comparing counts across products: this one declares its figure per sachet, which is what to compare
- People who prefer a powder they can put in water rather than a capsule
- Not a medicine and not a treatment for a diagnosed gut condition
How to Use
- Take one sachet a day.
- Tear the sachet and tip the powder into your mouth, or stir it into a glass of water.
- It can also go into a cold or lukewarm drink; very hot liquid is unnecessary since the bacteria are already heat-treated.
- Take it at whatever time you will actually remember — there is no required timing.
- Keep the box at room temperature and use the sachets by the date on the pack.
Frequency: One sachet daily; 31 sachets is one month.

Cautions
- This is a food, not a medicine. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it does not replace a varied diet or advice from your doctor.
- Check the declaration below against your own allergies before you order, not after.
- FK-23 is a heat-treated Enterococcus faecalis preparation. If you are immunocompromised, have a heart valve condition, or are under any specialist care involving your gut, ask your doctor before taking a concentrated bacterial preparation of any kind — live or heat-treated.
- Do not exceed the stated daily amount. More is not better here.
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under medical care or taking prescribed medication, speak to your doctor before use.
- Stop taking it and consult a doctor if you notice any change that does not suit you.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children.
- Nichinichi declares the formula allergen-free; that is the maker's statement, and the ingredient list above is what it rests on.

FAQ
Is 300 billion per sachet or per box?
Per sachet. Nichinichi's own product page states 3,000億 — 300 billion — per 1 g sachet. Our previous page said per pack, which made the product look thirty-one times weaker than it is. Corrected.
Are the bacteria alive?
No, and that is deliberate. FK-23 is heat-treated. That is why the box sits at room temperature and why survival through stomach acid is not part of the story. If you specifically want a live culture, this is not that product.
How does it compare with Protesan R and S?
Same FK-23 material, different concentration per sachet. B is 300 billion in a 1.0 g sachet, R is 1 trillion in 1.2 g, S is 4 trillion in 1.5 g. Compare per sachet, not per box, or the sizes will mislead you.
What is the oligosaccharide for?
It is not digested in the stomach and reaches the intestine, where it serves as substrate for gut bacteria. That is what Nichinichi puts it in for; how much difference it makes in any individual is not something we can promise.
Can I take it with medication?
It is a food, not a medicine, and there is no known interaction we could point to — but a concentrated bacterial preparation is still worth mentioning to your doctor if you are under treatment, particularly for anything involving immunity or the gut.
