An oil-free cleansing gel from Ryu Spa, the Okinawa-inspired Japanese line built on deep sea water drawn from 612 metres off Kumejima Island. The texture is a clear, slightly thick gel that spreads easily, so you do not have to rub at your face to get makeup off — which is the main practical argument for a gel over a wipe.
It is a first-cleanse product: applied to dry skin with dry hands, worked in for a minute or two, then rinsed. If you wear foundation or a water-resistant sunscreen, follow with your usual face wash. How to Use
- Make sure both your hands and your face are dry — water stops the gel emulsifying properly.
- Dispense 4–5 pumps into dry palms.

It is worth being straight about what this formula is. The marketing language talks about plant extracts, and those are present — but the first several ingredients are glycols and PEG-type emulsifiers, and that is what removes the makeup. The seaweed, gettou and hibiscus extracts sit far down the list. That is not a criticism: PEG emulsifiers are what make an oil-free gel able to lift foundation and sunscreen at all, and they rinse away cleanly without the residue an oil cleanser can leave. No animal-derived ingredients appear in the declared list.

FAQ
Why does it have to go on dry skin?
Because water gets in the way. The gel needs to bind to the oils in your makeup and sunscreen before it emulsifies; if your hands or face are wet, it thins out and slides instead. This is by far the most common reason people conclude a cleansing gel 'does not remove anything'. Dry hands, dry face, then rinse.
Do I still need a face wash afterwards?
It depends on the day. On foundation or water-resistant sunscreen, yes — do a second cleanse with your usual wash. On a barefaced day or with light makeup only, this on its own is plenty. Double cleansing every single day regardless of what you wore is a common way to end up with tight, over-cleansed skin.
Will it dry out my skin?
It is designed not to, and the oil-free base plus glycerin and glucosylceramide is a gentler starting point than a strong foaming wash. That said, no cleanser is moisturising — a cleanser's job is to leave and take the makeup with it. Follow with a lotion and an emulsion or cream, as you would with anything else.
Is it vegan or halal?
The declared ingredient list contains no animal-derived ingredients, so by composition it is suitable for a plant-only routine. However, the manufacturer holds no halal certification and makes no vegan claim, so we can describe the list but cannot certify anything beyond it. Can it take off waterproof mascara?
Partly, but do not expect it to strip a heavy waterproof formula in one pass. For stubborn eye makeup, hold the gel on the lashes for twenty or thirty seconds before you start massaging, or use a dedicated point remover first. Rubbing harder at the eye area is the one approach we would not recommend.
