Nameraka Honpo is Tokiwa Pharmaceutical's soy-milk line, and this is the night cream at the top of its Wrinkle White branch. It is a quasi-drug (医薬部外品), and the approved active (有効成分) is niacinamide — one of the few ingredients Japan allows to claim wrinkle improvement rather than merely the appearance of it.
The maker's own two-part claim is worth quoting because the boundary between its halves is exactly where most pages go wrong. Niacinamide reaches the dermis, promotes collagen production and improves wrinkles; and separately it suppresses melanin production and prevents spots and freckles. Prevention, not removal. Nothing in a Japanese quasi-drug approval covers fading a mark you already have, and this page does not say otherwise.

How to Use

Two things in that list are worth naming plainly rather than leaving for you to spot. It contains ethanol, which the maker's no-fragrance, no-colourant, no-mineral-oil declaration does not cover, and it contains soybean-derived material in three places — the fermented soy milk, the soybean extract and the hydrogenated soy lecithin — which matters if soy is one of your allergens.

- For external use only. Patch-test on the inner wrist 24 hours before the first full use.
- Stop at once and see a dermatologist if redness, itching or irritation appears.
- Do not apply to broken, wounded or badly irritated skin.
- Keep out of the eyes; rinse with plenty of water if it gets in.
- This contains retinol. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor before using a retinol product; many clinicians advise against topical retinoids during pregnancy.
- New to retinol? Expect a possible fortnight of mild tingling or dryness, and drop to every other night if it appears.

FAQ
Will it fade the dark spots I already have?
No, and the approval does not say it will. The maker's melanin claim is that niacinamide suppresses melanin production and thereby prevents spots and freckles. That is a forward-looking claim about marks that have not formed yet. An existing mark is a different problem and usually a clinical one.
Is the wrinkle claim real or marketing?
It is a registered claim. Japan approves very few ingredients to say they improve wrinkles rather than soften their appearance, and niacinamide at quasi-drug concentration is one of them. That approval is why this product is 医薬部外品 rather than a cosmetic, and the maker states the mechanism as reaching the dermis and promoting collagen production.
Is it scented?
No. Tokiwa declares it 無香料 — fragrance-free — along with no colourant and no mineral oil. Our own page previously said it carried a light scent; that was wrong, and it has been corrected against the maker's declaration.
Can I use it with a vitamin C serum?
Yes, and at different times of day is the easiest way. Vitamin C in the morning and this cream at night avoids stacking two actives in one layer, and the retinol here belongs at night anyway. If you prefer both in the evening, leave the cream until last, as the instructions say.
Can I use it while pregnant?
Ask your doctor first. This cream contains retinol, and many clinicians advise avoiding topical retinoids in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. We would rather you check than have us reassure you about something that is a medical question and not a cosmetic one.
