How to Use

1. Soak the towel in cool water. A drinking bottle is enough when you are out.
2. Wring it out firmly so it is damp, not dripping — a wet towel on a collar is nobody's idea of comfort.
3. Swing or snap it in the air several times. This is what starts the evaporation and drops the temperature.
4. Drape it over the back of the neck, the shoulders or the forehead.
5. Re-wet, wring and swing again whenever the coolness fades.

Cautions

• A cooling towel is comfort equipment. It does not prevent or treat heat exhaustion or heat stroke. If you or someone with you feels dizzy, confused, stops sweating, or becomes nauseous in the heat, move into shade, cool the body and get medical help — do not rely on a towel.
• Do not use it on broken, sunburnt or irritated skin.
• Do not place it over the face of a baby, a small child or anyone who cannot lift it off themselves. A damp cloth over the face is a suffocation risk.
• The UV figure applies to the fabric where it covers you. It is not sunscreen and it does not protect skin the towel is not lying on.
• Rinse it in clean water and let it dry fully between uses. Left damp and bundled up in a bag it will smell.
• Wash new towels separately the first few times — deep dye colours can transfer while wet.
• As with any evaporative cooling fabric, avoid fabric softener: it coats the fibres and the towel takes up less water afterwards. Avoid bleach and a hot tumble dryer for the same reason.
• Keep away from open flame and hot surfaces; this is a synthetic fabric.
