How to Use

Cautions
- This is a Japanese quasi-drug (iyakubugaihin): the active ingredients and the effect claimed for them have been reviewed by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Outside Japan it is sold as an ordinary cosmetic.
- Approved to help prevent rough skin and to calm inflammation. It is not a treatment for eczema or dermatitis, which need medical care.
- Apply thinly. A thick layer will transfer to your pillowcase and does not improve the result.
- Jar packaging: take the product with clean, dry hands or a spatula.
- Patch test on the inner forearm before first use, especially if your skin is reactive.
- Discontinue use and consult a doctor if redness, itching, swelling or persistent stinging occurs.
- Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Do not apply to broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin.
- Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.

FAQ
Is this just petroleum jelly in an expensive jar?
Petrolatum is doing the occlusive work, and there is no way around saying so — but the formulation around it is what you are paying for. Plain petroleum jelly has no humectants underneath it, so it seals in whatever moisture is there and no more. This one puts two hyaluronic acids, glycerin, glutamic acid and erythritol beneath the seal, adds two approved anti-inflammatory actives, and uses a silica and wax structure that keeps the texture from being greasy. Whether that is worth the difference in price is a fair question; whether it is the same product is not.
Can I use it after retinol or acids?
Yes, and that is one of its better uses. Apply your retinoid or acid, let it absorb fully, then use this as the final occlusive layer. The petrolatum reduces overnight water loss while your barrier is compromised, and the two anti-inflammatory actives address the redness that usually comes with it. What it will not do is cancel out an active you overapplied — if your skin is stinging, the answer is to use less of the active, not more of this.
Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?
The declared ingredient list is plant- and mineral-derived, with no animal ingredients, so it fits a vegan routine. It carries no halal certification, however — Japanese domestic cosmetics are rarely certified — so if certification itself matters to you, this product does not have it.
The packaging is in Japanese — how do I know what I am using?
The carton and bottle carry Japanese-language labelling, because this is stock made for the Japanese domestic market. Where an ingredient list appears on this page, it is translated from that labelling or from the manufacturer's own published data; where the manufacturer does not publish one, the ingredients section says so rather than filling the gap.
