How to Use
- Twist the base to extend about 1 cm of the stick.
- Glide it directly onto the skin in a zigzag, overlapping each pass so there are no gaps — patchy coverage is the main failure mode of a stick.
- For the areas the stick cannot reach cleanly — around the eyes, the sides of the nose, the hairline — dab a little onto a fingertip and blend it in.
- Reapply over makeup during the day as needed.
- Reapply after swimming, heavy sweating or towel-drying.
Frequency: Daily, and again every 2–3 hours during sun exposure. Can go over makeup or on bare skin.
Full Ingredients
What is confirmed: SPF50+ PA++++, built on Shiseido's SynchroShield technology and Super Veil-UV 360, with argan oil as the moisturising component and a citrus-floral fragrance. The formula is transparent and contains no tinting pigment.
What we will not tell you: the proportion of the formula that is skincare rather than filters, or whether any individual UV filter is absent. Figures of that kind circulate for this product and we could not trace them to Shiseido, so we do not repeat them. If you need to know whether a particular filter is present, ask us and we will read it off the box.
Shiseido does not publish a full INCI for its stick sun care outside the Japanese carton, and we are not going to assemble one from retailer pages and present it as the label. Can this really go over makeup?
Yes — that is what it was designed for. Glide it over finished makeup in overlapping passes; because it is transparent and does not drag, the base underneath stays where it is.
How does it compare with the SHISEIDO MEN Clear Stick?
Both are transparent SynchroShield sticks at SPF50+ PA++++. This one contains argan oil, carries a citrus-floral scent, and is designed to be worn over makeup. The MEN version is positioned for men's skin and is the one to take if you want the same technology without the citrus scent.
Will it leave a white cast?
No. It is transparent with no tinting pigment, so there is no colour payoff on any skin tone.
Should this be my only sunscreen?
For a day mostly indoors, it can be. For a long day outside, use a gel or milk in the morning and this for top-ups — a stick is harder to apply at full density than a lotion, and density is what the SPF rating is measured at.
What is Super Veil-UV 360?
