How to Use
- Use on a dry face. You may use it with wet hands — shu uemura states this explicitly, and it is one of the reasons the oil is quick to use.
- Dispense 4 pumps into your hand and massage gently over the whole face.
- Add a little water or lukewarm water and keep massaging until the whole face turns milky. This is the emulsification step and it is the one people skip.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
- Do not follow with a face wash. shu uemura formulates these as one-step cleansers (W洗顔不要) — makeup removal and cleansing in a single pass. A second cleanse is the thing the formula is built to make unnecessary.

About the "2.2×" figure. shu uemura's claim is precise and it is easy to repeat wrongly, so here it is with its footnote intact: in the brand's own testing, after cleansing with this oil, 2.2 times as much niacinamide from skincare applied afterwards reached the stratum corneum. It is a measurement about the products you use next, not about this oil's own contents — there is no niacinamide in the oil.

The pump won't dispense. What am I doing wrong?
Probably nothing — the 2026 bottle has a new locking pump. Turn the nozzle towards OPEN until it clicks to open it, and towards CLOSE until it clicks to lock it again. It is the most common question about this bottle and it is not a fault.
How does it compare with the Bright oil?
Ultime8 is the generalist: several concerns at once, camellia-based, slightly richer, and the range's bestseller. Bright is the one built around dullness and uneven tone, using fermented ingredients, with a slightly lighter feel. The practical difference for some people is the allergen list — Ultime8 contains soybean oil and Bright does not.
