Description

S·HEART·S Scalp Brush World Model Short — 376-Pin Japanese Shampoo Brush

Overview

The standard model in the S·HEART·S scalp brush range: 376 nylon pins with rounded tips, in a 160 × 51 × 40 mm short-handled body weighing about 80 g. The pins come in two stiffnesses and at two heights — the firmer ones work at the skin, the softer ones spread the pressure, and the taller ones pass through the hair while the shorter ones reach the scalp between them.

The text that used to sit here called this a "Majestic comb" and credited it to Japanese scientists. It is a S·HEART·S product, and the dimensions on our own listing match their World Model Short exactly. The claims that came with the wrong name — that hair loss stops, that the brush restores hair root activity, that it cleans ten thousand pores — have gone with it. A brush is a washing tool. Compare with the 572-pin World Premium Short, and see also our Japanese haircare range.

Key Benefits

  • ✓ 376 round-tipped nylon pins in two stiffnesses and two heights
  • ✓ Short handle sized for use in the shower rather than for dry brushing at a mirror
  • ✓ Flexible nylon that does not develop the micro-cracks a cheap comb does, so it lasts
  • ✓ Distributes conditioner evenly through the lengths as well as washing the scalp
  • ✓ The lower-cost entry to the S·HEART·S range, doing the same job as the premium model
  • ✓ Shipped from our base in Kobe, Japan with tracking, in the Japanese domestic packaging

Who Is This For?

  • Anyone who wants to try a scalp brush without paying for the premium model
  • People who dislike washing with their nails and want something between fingers and a comb
  • Households where more than one person will use it — it is easy to rinse and dries fast
  • Children who resist having their hair combed often tolerate this better than a comb
  • Not for: an inflamed, broken or sunburned scalp, or an active eczema or psoriasis flare

How to Use

  1. Wet the hair thoroughly with warm water.
  2. Apply shampoo to the scalp, or to the brush, and work up a lather first.
  3. Place the brush flat on the scalp and move it in small circles — forehead towards the crown, sides towards the crown, nape towards the crown.
  4. Cover the whole scalp rather than only the top. Three to five minutes is plenty.
  5. Rinse the hair and the brush, then let the brush dry with the pins facing down.

Frequency: At every wash

Full Ingredients

This is a tool, not a cosmetic, so there is no ingredient list. Materials: ABS resin handle, nylon pins with rounded tips, set in two stiffnesses and at two heights.

What a scalp brush does is mechanical and modest: it moves lather across the skin at an even pressure and reaches between hairs that fingers push aside. It does not act on the follicle, and no brush stops hair loss. If yours is a hair-loss question rather than a cleaning question, a medicated scalp tonic or a dermatologist is the right next step, not a brush.

Cautions

  • Do not press hard. The pins are meant to rest on the scalp, not to be pushed into it.
  • Use on wet, lathered hair. Dragging the brush through dry tangles is what causes breakage.
  • Do not use on inflamed, sunburned or broken scalp, or during an active eczema or psoriasis flare.
  • Rinse after each use and dry pins-down. A wet brush left in a bathroom grows what any wet bathroom object grows.
  • Keep out of reach of small children; the handle is not a toy.

FAQ

World Model or World Premium — which one?

The difference is pin count and price: the World Model Short has 376 pins, the World Premium Short has 572 in the same 160 mm body, with a stepped planting pattern and an anti-slip stopper on the handle. More pins means the pressure at each point is lower, which matters if your scalp is tender or if you press harder than you mean to. If neither of those is you, the World Model does the same job for less money. Both are the short-handled version, which is the one designed for shampooing rather than for dry brushing.

Will a scalp brush pull my hair out or damage my scalp?

Used as intended, it should not. The pins are round-tipped nylon and the motion is small circles on wet, lathered hair — not dragging through dry tangles, which is where breakage actually happens. Two habits do cause trouble: pressing hard, on the theory that harder is cleaner, and using it on dry hair as a detangling brush. Neither is what the tool is for. If your scalp is inflamed, sunburned, or you have an active flare of eczema or psoriasis, leave the brush out until it settles.

Does a brush really clean better than fingers?

It cleans differently. Fingers have ten contact points and nails, which is the wrong tool for skin; a brush has several hundred rounded points and no nails, so it reaches between the hairs at an even pressure. S·HEART·S publishes its own test figures for the difference — odour reduced by around half compared with finger washing, scalp temperature up by two degrees. Those are the maker's numbers from the maker's testing, not independent trials, and not a prediction about your hair. What is uncontroversial is the ergonomics: most people scrub the top of the head and neglect the nape, and a brush makes that harder to do.

Is this an authentic Japanese product?

Yes. We buy through Japanese distribution channels and ship from our base in Kobe, Japan. We do not sell grey-market or parallel-import stock, and the packaging you receive is the Japanese domestic packaging, with Japanese-language labelling.

Will I pay customs duty or import VAT?

That depends on your country and on the declared value of the parcel, not on us. We ship from Japan with a correct customs declaration and full tracking; any duty or import VAT your country charges is collected by your local carrier or customs office on delivery. Check your national de-minimis threshold before ordering if you want to avoid a surprise.
