Overview
THERATIS by mixim comes from ViCREA, the company behind &honey, and this oil is built around a Japanese problem that travels well: tsuyu, the rainy season, when humid air gets into the hair shaft and every wave comes back. The proposition is that you put it on before bed and let the repair ingredients work through the night rather than in the two minutes before you leave the house.
The repair side is three ceramides (NG, NP and AP) with hydrolysed keratin, hydrolysed milk protein and hydrolysed silk. The anti-frizz side is γ-docosalactone, which is the ingredient worth understanding: it reacts to heat, so it does most of its smoothing under a dryer or an iron rather than sitting on the hair. If you air-dry, you are using half the formula.
The scent is Night Jasmine, and there is jasmine flower extract in the declaration to go with it. The formula is free of petroleum-based surfactants, synthetic colourants, sodium laureth sulfate and parabens, and ViCREA states it is not tested on animals — which is a separate question from whether it contains animal-derived ingredients. How to Use
- Wash and towel-dry the hair first. The oil goes on damp hair, not soaking wet and not bone dry.
- Dispense into the palm — two or three drops for short hair, more for long or thick.
- Warm it between the palms so it spreads instead of landing in one place.
- Work it through the mid-lengths and ends and keep it off the scalp.
- Comb through and blow-dry. The heat is what activates the γ-docosalactone, so this step is not optional if frizz is your reason for buying it.
Frequency: Nightly, or as often as the weather requires it. It can also go on in the morning for shine, though the formula is built around the night.

Animal-derived ingredients: keratin and hydrolysed keratin from wool, hydrolysed milk protein, hydrolysed silk, and hydrolysed conchiolin, which comes from shellfish and pearl. The product is therefore not vegan. A shellfish allergy is the one to take seriously here.
On fragrance allergens: the Japanese label declares 香料 as a single entry, which is how Japanese law allows it. It does not break out the individual allergens that an EU or UK label would name separately — limonene, linalool, geraniol, citronellol and the rest. FAQ
Do I have to blow-dry for it to work?
For the anti-frizz half, effectively yes. γ-Docosalactone is heat-reactive: it does its smoothing under a dryer or an iron. The ceramides, keratin and oils work regardless of how you dry, so the oil is not wasted on air-dried hair — but if humidity frizz is the reason you are buying it, the heat step is part of the product.
Is it vegan or halal?
It is not vegan: the formula contains wool keratin, hydrolysed milk protein, hydrolysed silk and conchiolin from shellfish and pearl. On halal, the product carries no formal certification. Wool and milk are generally regarded as permissible, but we are not the right authority on that — if formal certification matters, consult a religious authority and review the full list above.
What is in the fragrance?
The Japanese label says 香料 and stops there, which Japanese labelling law permits. That is less detail than an EU or UK label gives, where individual allergens such as limonene and linalool are named. Can I use it on the scalp?
No, and not because it is harmful — because it is an oil designed for the hair shaft, and on the scalp it mostly makes roots greasy without doing anything useful. Mid-lengths and ends. If your scalp is sensitive, patch-test before the first use anyway.
Is it a leave-in or does it rinse out?
Leave-in. It goes on towel-dried hair and stays. You wash it out at your next wash, not the same evening.
