- The previous description claimed this formula contains no animal-derived ingredients. Its own published list contains placenta extract, water-soluble collagen and Human Oligopeptide-1. The claim has been removed. Placenta extract in Japanese cosmetics is usually of porcine origin, collagen is animal- or marine-derived, and Human Oligopeptide-1 is a human-sequence peptide made by fermentation. None of that is hidden by the manufacturer — it was simply contradicted by the marketing line above it.
- Contains lemon peel oil and orange peel oil. Expressed citrus peel oils carry furocoumarins and are a recognised cause of phototoxic reactions — a burn-like redness or lasting darkening where the product was applied and the skin then met sunlight. Use sunscreen during the day while you are using this product, and if you are unsure, apply it in the evening only. The previous description recommended morning and evening use and did not mention sun exposure at all.
- Also contains rose oil, geranium flower oil and rose flower extract. These are pleasant, and they are also among the more common contact allergens in skincare. Patch test if scented products have irritated you before.
- Do not apply to broken skin, eczema or sunburn — the citrus and floral oils make an already compromised barrier more reactive.

What is "vitamin C reduced water" and does it work?
The brand's central claim is a base of "vitamin C reduced water" — mineral water treated by electrolysis, said to match the mild acidity of healthy skin and to carry actives further because electrolysis breaks water into smaller clusters. The pH point is reasonable and easy to accept. The small-cluster part is not: water-cluster theory is not accepted in mainstream physical chemistry, and clusters at room temperature reorganise on a timescale of picoseconds. We are keeping the ingredient description and dropping the mechanism, because the formula does not need it — birch sap, fucoidan, a vitamin C derivative and a full set of natural-moisturising-factor humectants stand on their own.
Can I use it in the morning?
Yes, but with sunscreen over it. The formula contains expressed lemon and orange peel oils, which can cause phototoxic reactions on skin that then meets sunlight. If you do not use a daily sunscreen, keep this lotion to your evening routine — that is the honest answer, and it is not the one the previous description gave.
Is the birch sap claim meaningful or just a story?
Both, in a way. Birch sap is genuinely harvested in a narrow spring window and genuinely contains sugars, amino acids, organic acids and minerals — that part is not marketing. What is unknown is how much of the finished bottle is birch sap and what it does that glycerin does not. It sits second after water and glycerin in the list, so it is present in real quantity, which is more than can be said for many botanicals on many labels.
Is this product halal or suitable for vegans?
No on both counts. The declared list contains placenta extract, water-soluble collagen and Human Oligopeptide-1, so this is not a vegan formula. Placenta extract in Japanese cosmetics is usually porcine, which for most halal-observant shoppers settles the question by itself; the manufacturer does not publish the species, so we cannot tell you otherwise. Human Oligopeptide-1 is a human-sequence peptide produced by fermentation, not harvested from people, but some shoppers prefer to avoid it regardless and are entitled to know it is there.
