How to Use

5. Fold it, return it to the pouch, and keep it out of a hot closed car.

Cautions

• Do not leave it in a hot closed car. Heat can deform the frame and affect the coating.
• Let it dry completely in the open position before folding. A folded damp umbrella grows mould and then smells.
• Do not lean on it as a walking stick — the frame is not built for a vertical load.
• It is not a storm umbrella. Avoid strong wind rather than testing it.
• Do not machine wash or wring it. Spot-clean with a soft damp cloth; washing degrades the UV coating.
• Light scuffing where the fabric meets the ribs is normal for this material and wipes off with a dry cloth.

Both. UNIQLO rates it 晴雨兼用 — sun and rain. The polyester canopy handles ordinary rain. It is not sold as a storm umbrella, so avoid strong wind.

What does the 遮熱 heat shield actually do?

A plain canopy blocks light but absorbs solar heat and radiates it back down at you. The 遮熱 treatment reflects part of that infrared radiation, so less heat reaches the underside. Combined with roughly 99.9% light blocking, the practical effect is that standing under it on a hot day is cooler than standing under an ordinary umbrella.
