Description

ORIHIRO High-Purity Glucosamine — 360 tablets, 36 days' supply

Overview

A Japanese joint supplement built around one declared number: 1500 mg of glucosamine hydrochloride per daily dose of 10 tablets. ORIHIRO registered that dose with Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency as a Food with Function Claims, notification G429, and publishes the whole declaration — every ingredient, every milligram, and the allergen table — which is rarer in this category than it should be.

This is the 360-tablet bottle, 36 days at the stated dose. The formula is identical to the 900-tablet size; only the pack differs. See Product Details for which one costs less per day.

What ORIHIRO is permitted to claim, and what it is not

This product is a Food with Function Claims (kinousei hyouji shokuhin), notification number G429. That category allows one specific, pre-declared statement and nothing beyond it. ORIHIRO's notified wording is:

This product contains glucosamine hydrochloride. Glucosamine hydrochloride has been reported to support knee movement — bending and straightening — and to reduce discomfort in the knee. It is a food suited to people who wish to improve quality of life relating to the knee joint.

That is the whole of it. "Has been reported" is part of the claim, not a hedge we added. The product is not a treatment for arthritis or any other diagnosed condition, and Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency has not individually assessed it — the notification is made under the manufacturer's own responsibility.

Key Benefits

  • 1500 mg glucosamine hydrochloride per day — the exact amount ORIHIRO notified under G429, not an unstated 'complex'
  • Notification number published (G429), so the permitted claim is checkable against Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency register
  • Full declaration and allergen table printed in full on this page — shrimp, crab, soy, chicken, pork and gelatin all named
  • Chondroitin and type II collagen included — 100 mg mucopolysaccharide-protein complex and 10 mg chicken cartilage extract per daily dose
  • Small 250 mg tablets, swallowed with water and dividable across the day
  • 36-day bottle at about ¥90 per day — compare with the 90-day size at about ¥61 per day

Who Is This For?

  • Adults who notice their knees when going up or down stairs, or when getting out of a chair, and want to keep everyday movement comfortable.
  • People who want the notified glucosamine dose — 1500 mg a day — from a product that states its notification number rather than implying a benefit.
  • Anyone who prefers a tablet with a short, fully published declaration over a proprietary blend.
  • Not for: anyone allergic to crustaceans, anyone taking anticoagulant medication without first asking their doctor, children, or anyone looking for treatment of a diagnosed joint disease — that is a matter for a doctor, not a supplement.

How to Use

  1. Take 10 tablets a day.
  2. Swallow them with water or warm water. Splitting them across the day — five in the morning and five in the evening, for instance — is fine; ORIHIRO does not specify a time.
  3. Do not exceed 10 tablets in a day.
  4. Close the cap firmly after each use and keep the bottle out of direct sunlight.

Frequency: Daily, 10 tablets. Consistency matters more than dose with this category.

Full Ingredients

Full declaration as published by ORIHIRO. Ingredients are listed in descending order of weight.

Fermented collagen hydrolysate (contains gelatin, made in Japan), mucopolysaccharide-protein complex (contains pork), dextrin, dolomite, zinc-containing yeast, chicken cartilage extract, vitamin-K-containing edible oil powder, soybean germ extract / glucosamine (derived from shrimp and crab), crystalline cellulose, glycerin fatty acid ester, silicon dioxide, vitamin B6, vitamin B1, hyaluronic acid, folic acid, vitamin D.

Cautions

  • Do not take this product if you are allergic to crustaceans. The glucosamine is derived from shrimp and crab.
  • If you take antithrombotic medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use. Each daily dose contains 10 µg of vitamin K, which is the interaction that matters with anticoagulants such as warfarin.
  • Also contains soy, chicken, pork and gelatin — check the declaration above if you have a food allergy.
  • Keep to the stated daily amount of 10 tablets. More is not better.
  • This is a food, not a medicine. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it is not a substitute for medical care for a joint problem.
  • Notified to Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency under the manufacturer's own responsibility. Unlike Tokuho products, it has not been individually assessed by the Agency.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under medical treatment or taking any medicine, speak to your doctor before starting.
  • Stop taking it and seek advice if you feel unwell.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity, and close the cap firmly after opening.

Package Contents

One bottle containing 360 tablets (90 g), with a screw cap and a desiccant sachet. No measuring spoon is needed. The cap colour varies between production runs, which ORIHIRO notes on its own page.

FAQ

Is there shark cartilage in this product?

No. That was an error in our previous description and we have corrected it. The chondroitin in this formula comes from a pork-derived mucopolysaccharide-protein complex and from chicken cartilage extract. There is no shark-derived material in ORIHIRO's declaration.

Will it treat my arthritis?

No, and no supplement in this category may claim to. The only thing ORIHIRO is permitted to say — and has notified — is that glucosamine hydrochloride has been reported to support knee bending and straightening and to reduce knee discomfort. If you have a diagnosed joint condition, that is a conversation with your doctor.

I'm allergic to shellfish. Can I take it?

No. The glucosamine is derived from shrimp and crab, and ORIHIRO's own allergen table marks both. This is not a case where a small amount is probably fine; please choose a different product.

I take warfarin. Is that a problem?

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start. Each daily dose contains 10 µg of vitamin K, and vitamin K is the specific interaction that matters with warfarin and similar anticoagulants. ORIHIRO prints this caution on the pack and we repeat it here rather than bury it.

Which size should I buy?

The formula is identical, so it is purely arithmetic: this bottle works out at about ¥90 a day and the 90-day size at about ¥61 a day. If you already know the product suits you, the larger bottle is the cheaper way to stay on it; if you are trying it, start small.
