What this is, and a note about the name. This is the Feather F-System MR3 Neo in chrome — a three-blade cartridge holder with a rotating roller ahead of the blades that flattens and slightly stretches the skin, and a guard mesh over the head. The web address of this page still says "samrai edge" for historical reasons; the product is the MR3 Neo, as the title says. The two are different holders in the same F-System family, and their cartridges are interchangeable.
Which Feather system this belongs to. We stock two Feather razor systems and they take completely different blades. This product is part of the F-System cartridge family: a plastic-bodied holder with a snap-on three-blade cartridge. The other family is the double-edge one — a metal razor that takes a flat two-sided blade. Flat double-edge blades do not fit a cartridge holder, and a cartridge does not fit a double-edge razor. Our older pages praised "Feather blades" on all five listings without saying which system each belonged to, which is exactly how the wrong one ends up in a basket.
One good thing about F-System. Within the cartridge family, Feather uses a single mount across the range: any Feather cartridge fits any Feather cartridge holder. Samurai Edge cartridges go on an MR3 Neo handle and the other way round. You are not locked to one handle by the blades you already have.
About the maker. Feather Safety Razor Co., Ltd. has made blades in Seki, Gifu Prefecture since 1932 — the town Japan has associated with blade-making since it was making swords. Feather also supplies surgical and craft blades, which is where the reputation for edge quality comes from.
Three things you will see claimed elsewhere, and will not see here. That it was the best-selling razor of 2016 — unsourced, and a decade old. That a customer review proves one blade lasts a month; blade life depends on beard, water and technique, and we are not going to publish someone else's month as your expectation. And an unlimited shelf life. A dry, capped blade keeps well, but nothing about steel in a humid bathroom is unlimited.

How to Use
- Soften the beard first — warm water for a minute, then shaving cream, gel or foam.
- Shave with the grain in short strokes, letting the head pivot; do not press.
- Rinse the cartridge under running water every few strokes so the gap between blades stays clear.
- Rinse in cold water at the end, shake the water off and stand the razor head-up to dry.
- Replace the cartridge when it starts to pull rather than cut.
Frequency: As often as you shave; replace the blade when it stops cutting cleanly
Full Ingredients
This is a razor, not a cosmetic, so there is no ingredient list. Materials as given by Feather:
- Blades: stainless steel, 0.1 mm thick, with a silicon-carbide ceramic and chrome coating
- Cartridge body: ABS resin
- Handle: ABS resin with a rubber grip
- Lubricating strip: contains vitamin E (tocopherol)
The lubricating strip is the only part that touches the skin with anything added to it. If you react to lubricating strips on other razors, that is the part to be aware of.
Cautions
- The blades are extremely sharp. Handle the cutting edge as you would a scalpel, and never test it with a finger.
- Keep razors and loose blades out of the reach of children.
- Do not shave over moles, warts, spots or broken skin.
- Rinse and dry the razor after use; a wet blade dulls faster and a wet bathroom shelf is the worst place to leave one.
- Dispose of used blades safely — in a blade bank, a sealed tin or the box the new ones came in. Do not put a loose blade in a household bin.
- Loose razor blades are restricted in cabin baggage in most countries. Pack them in checked luggage, and check your airline's rule before you fly.
- If a cut does not stop bleeding, or a shaved area becomes red, swollen or painful over the following days, see a doctor.
- Store away from direct sunlight, heat and damp. Steel keeps its edge best dry.
