That separation is the design, not a fault, and it is worth saying so plainly because it is the single thing new buyers of two-phase serums worry about. You shake it, the phases combine into a temporary emulsion, and you apply that emulsion while it lasts.

The oil phase is squalane with macadamia, grape seed and passion fruit seed oils; the water phase carries the botanicals and the vitamin derivatives. Together they give you a hydrating and an emollient step in one bottle, which is why it sits between the toner and the emulsion rather than replacing either.

AGTHEORY is built around what AXXZIA calls the Toka Complex (糖花コンプレックス, "sugar-flower complex"): eleven plant ingredients led by Alpine Rose (Rhododendron ferrugineum) extract, horse chestnut seed extract and plantain seed extract. How to Use

1. Shake the bottle until the two layers have visibly combined into one cloudy liquid
2. Pour 2–4 drops into a clean palm — more for dry skin, fewer in summer
3. Press it over the face and neck; do not rub, the emulsion will separate again under friction
4. Wait until it has settled before the next step, roughly half a minute
5. Shake again before the next use — the layers will have parted, and that is expected

FAQ

The two layers have separated — has it gone off?

No. Separation is what a two-phase serum does between uses, and it will happen again within minutes of your shaking it. A bottle that stayed mixed on the shelf would be the unusual one. Shake until the liquid looks uniformly cloudy and use it straight away.

Where does it go in the routine?

After the Moisturizing Lotion and before the Silky Emulsion or the Rich Cream. Full order: Deep Cleansing Gel → Clear Wash Foam → Moisturizing Lotion → Balancing Oil Essence → Silky Emulsion → Rich Cream.

Will the oils clog my pores?

Squalane and passion fruit seed oil are generally well tolerated, including by combination skin, but comedogenicity is individual and no ingredient list can predict it for you. If you are prone to congestion, try it on part of the face for a fortnight before committing.

Is 30 mL not very small for the price?
